Freak Darklings were one of the first enemies designed for LEGO Universe. They resemble Hyper Darklings with the addition of large claws. They appeared in an early version of Forbidden Valley, and likely other worlds. An early screenshot shows a Freak Darkling in Portabello, indicating they were planned to be recycled much like how Hyper Darklings were, however, they do not appear in the released world.

- On January 29, 2012, a Freak Darkling was spawned by a Mythran in Nimbus Plaza.
